Pont du Gard, Roman aqueduct

Arguably the most impressive and celebrated of any aqueduct (in Europe). The environment and river Gard is tranquil and adds to the atmosphere. It is difficult to appreciate the labour and workmanship that went in to creating this masterpiece from Roman times.
