SN 2023ixf is a type II (core collapse) supernova located in M101, called the Pinwheel Galaxy. It was discovered on May 19, 2023 by the Japanese amateur astronomer Koichi Itagaki.

The supernova is about 21 million light-years from Earth.

This image was taken on May 27, 2023 with the supernova around magnitude 10.8.
