A Rebirth of Light

The annular solar eclipse march's its way across the sky above the Eastern Mitten Butte in Monument Valley.

We were lucky enough to get to camp down in the valley for the eclipse as part of our workshop. A Navajo Medicine Man blessed us before the eclipse and explained the importance of the even in their culture, how they see the sun as the father, and the eclipse as if the father is dying and then being reborn or being renewed as the sun comes back to full strength.

Of course this is not all one photo. I used my sony 200-600mm G lens on my Sony A1 to capture the eclipse and then scale them down to put the suns into an order in the sky, and the lanscape shot was done at blue hour at sunrise using my 24-105 G lens at 35mm on my Sony A7R5.

I was so happy to get a blue ribbon this year.
