Just a Hint
Just a little peak at the Milky Way rising up behind Hot Creek Gorge as the foreground is illuminated by a Waxing Gibbous moon at 81.7%.
I was up in this area to shoot the fall color with a another photography buddy. He had not been to this location so I brought him here attempt to shoot the Milky Way ( he had not shot the milky way before as well) and then back here for sunrise the next day.
I was not expecting to see much of the Milky Way with so much moon light washing out the stars, ( you can look at a past photo of mine to see what it looks like when there is no moon in the sky
flic.kr/p/2m9xg7t ), but it was still fun to shoot and see how well the moon illuminates the surrounding landscape.
Exposure Blend
11 shots stacked for sky
ISO 3200, 24mm, f/2.8, 15 seconds each
Blended with one long exposure for the foreground
ISO 800, 24mm, f/2.8, 61 seconds.
