Resilient

One of the Bristle Cone Pine Trees of the Ancient Bristle Cone Pine Tree Forest in California's White Mountains.

These trees thrive in the harsh terrain and the alkaline soil of the White Mountains because there is little to no competition from other plant life, in fact they are a pore competitor in good soils.

Some of the trees in the Ancient Bristle Cone Pine Tree Forest can reach ages close to 5000 years old. These trees have a large shallow root system and a lot of times just like the tree in this image you see these roots exposed because of the erosion that happens over the long life of this tree.
