Dead Wood

Looking towards Stonewall Peak while hiking along Azalea Glen Spring trail in the Cuyamaca Rancho State Park in San Diego.

The park was burned in the 2003 Cedar Fire, the largest wildfire in California History. It makes for a eerie back drop. You see the massive devastation the fire created but every time I'm here I wonder what the park looked like when the forest was whole.

The forested area you see below Stonewall Peak towards the far right of the picture is the Paso Picacho Campground, when your up on top of Stonewall Peak looking towards the area I'm standing in now you see a small forested area surrounded by dead forest.
