Karakoram Hwy, Sept 1986. Tajik Wedding

Hundreds of people gathered from far and wide, at a small village (a few run-down adobe buildings and yurts) for a wedding.

We didn't stop for long because we still had a long drive ahead of us.

There wasn't a single vehicle there. Everyone arrived by horse, donkey or camel. I think they were amused by our interest.

The men and boys sat in a huge circle, to eat. The women served them and attended the bride, who was hidden away behind a red curtain, in a nearby mud brick building.

Shot originally with a Nikon FM2 on Kodak Gold 100 film. Negative photographed with Fujifilm X-T1 and MCEX-16 extension tube. Reversal and processing in Lightroom.
