The Perfidious
UNE 'Abelosaur'-Class Personal Powered ExoSuits
L -> R
PPES-I/a 'Majungasaur' - In 2153, the UNE put out a contract for a powered exosuit - this was followed through on in 2155 by the Irving Industrial Dynamics Company. Based on a heavily-adapted industrial exo-suit, the PPES-I would be developed throughout the 2150s and into the early 2160s.
The pilot would sit in the central 'cocoon', wearing a G-suit made of fluid-filled bags controlling pressure and reducing transferred shock.
First seeing combat on Hurink against the Othaen Federation, they would prove useful on the rocky, volcanic ground. What little coverings has existed overtop of pistons or other moving components were almost immediately removed and their use was not carried over to any other model of suit - the razor-sharp dust filling the atmosphere saw to it that gaskets, whether covered or not, would require exceedingly frequent replacement.
Dubbed the 'Abelosaur-Class' of Personal Powered ExoSuit (PPES), the first model to reach full-scale production, and the most-produced overall, was the -I/a 'Majungasaur'. It saw particularly extensive use in TVRA [Terminal-Velocity Rapid-Assault] operations, where smaller orbital craft would enter the upper atmosphere and the PPESs would drop, maintaining terminal velocity for as long as possible, then firing their disposable thruster-packs on full for the last 750m to make a rapid-entry landing. This would give the enemy as little time as possible to fire upon the defenceless-whilst-airborne ExoSuits.
PPES-II/a 'Carnotaur' - Late- Othaen War upgraded model, the -II/a model featured upgraded hardpoints and hardware, standard external low-velocity chemical launchers (smoke/chaff) following experiences on Hurink and other more minor colonial planets.
PPES-II/j 'Guren-I'/'Ekrixinatosaur' - A license-produced model by Hasegawa Industrial, the Guren-I greatly increased the armour on the carapace after the UNE's experience against Arkanin Gas Field Guns proved disastrous for the UNE's light equipment and walkers, including the PPESs. Although bulky, increased fine-tunings in firmware and software were able to offset the added mass yet still keep the -II/j light.
PPES-I/o 'Indosuchus' - Orbital, sans-atmospheric, and low-gravity conditional requirement led to the adoption of the -I/o variant, with more sensors, increased pressure-control, and a larger N2/O2 storage.
