The ИЫА-4, or Имото Ыокухаса Амасоша -4, (Vehicle, Infantry Support Type 4) is an advanced Infantry Support Vehicle platform developed for the Giraffistani Army in the late 1980s.
The ИЫА-4 entered service in 1988 in Giraffistan, just before the socioeconomic collapse of many of the YSSR’s satellite states. It was developed to fill the role of a more advanced infantry fighting vehicle series, with and emphasis placed on crew protection. This would culminate in the final production version, which would see only 62 units produced before the nation devolved into the control of regional warlords and corporate entities. Featuring state-of-the-art defence technology including an unmanned turret, the IYA-4 would see primary use with the Socialist government’s successor, the Dziravistan Military, which gained true success after its victory over the last two regional warlords in 1992. This was in no small part thanks to the contributions of the ИЫА-4, which would be the backbone of the Dziravi special forces.
Full-scale production was resumed in late 1991, And the production of the УКЗ variant with a 50mm Automatic Grenade Launcher system was developed for urban combat, where destructive high-explosive rounds were found to be more valuable in urban environments than the precise 35mm of the main production version.
Similar in appearance to the TMP-2 and ShRM-3 AFVs of Khakassia, it was developed by the same Transnistro-Grodironi team back in the late 1980s, with the project spanning from 1986-1989. Its high-quality optics and unmanned turret make it an effective Infantry Support Vehicle, being able to transport infantry into the combat zone and support them more effectively than dated 1960s-era YSSR equipment was capable of. However, conditions in the passenger compartment were highly cramped and the engine had a tendency to backfire resulting in fires.
