Tram 01

During 2018, I'd been considering whether or not to build a tram model. As is normal for me, I wanted to try and find something a bit different from the usual. An internet search turned up the ideal candidate; the concept 2020 Oslo Tram.

 

This was the work of a couple of young Norwegian designers who had come up with a very stylish and modern-looking tram. Sadly the design was never taken up, but during 2018 there was still a possibility that it might come to pass.

 

This is my first attempt at designing the model, but I was unhappy with it. Part of the reason is that I had made the bodies 8 studs wide which did not match the width of the cabs. The other reason is shown in this render. Black and trans-black parts never render well together and the result was actually quite boring to look at. So the design was shelved and forgotten about. However, a long weekend away in Oslo recently has rekindled my interest and so I have come back to it again to see if I could address the problems with this design.
