LMS Railcar 12

The completed railcar had three coaches articulated on shared bogies. The two outer coaches are identical with 3rd class accommodation while the centre coach contained a first class compartment. All three coaches were equipped with a toilet and a power operated door on each side.

The original railcar was powered by six 125hp Leyland diesel engines, two per car, each driving one axle. Weighing just 74 tons, the railcar was intended to run at 75mph but actually achieved 82mph on a test run.
