Yes, this loco is controlled by LEGO's robotics system, Mindstorms. The heart of the system is the EV3 "intelligent brick" (although it's only as smart as the idiot who programs it) which takes instructions from coloured tiles placed in the track via a colour sensor. It's a bit of a tight squeeze to get everything packaged inside, but with a bit of lateral thought it all goes in.
