Wakefield Rd signal box, Leeds

The former Midland Railway signal box, "Wakefield Road" near Stourton on the south side of Leeds. Both cabin and signals were still wooden at the time. These signals controlled the Down main line from St.Pancras to Leeds City, while the shunting arms led to sidings which I believe still exist. Barely visible behind the bridge are the splitting signals for the former Stourton loco shed, via the crossover on the right. This area has changed quite a lot since!

Techy stuff: Zorki, Kodachrome 25 slide scan. (better quality rescan). Early 1976.
