Morning coal

Not long after dawn on a frosty morning at Bedlay colliery near Glasgow, Barclay no.17 lifts the first load of coal out of the colliery down in the valley to the main line where it will be picked up.

We'd travelled several hundred miles overnight to be there before sunrise to get this picture... mad, eh?

Truly best seen large.
