DUBAI December 2006
Mine and Kate's first stop on our 6 week adventure was here in Dubai, before heading for Doha (to stay with expat friends in a luxury house with swimming pool provided by Maersk Oil) then we went on to Singapore, Sydney and Melbourne.
This is the only 7 star hotel in the world Burj Al Arab in Dubai.
Repeatedly voted the world's most luxurious hotel, offering the finest service and facilities throughout – right down to an optional chauffeur-driven Rolls-Royce.
We didn't stay there we stayed at a shoddy 5* it wasn't shoddy but against this.....
Facts:
The shape of the hotel is designed to mimic the sail of a ship. It has a helipad near the roof at a height of 210 meters above ground.
The hotel is located on an island of reclaimed land 280 meters offshore of the beach of the former Chicago Beach Hotel
A good part of the hotel is below sea level and the dining experience is absolute luxury as well as insanely beautiful food choices diners are completely surrounded by a huge aquarium.
Holds 28 double-story floors which accommodate 202 bedroom suites. The smallest suite occupies an area of 1,820 sq ft, the largest covers 8,400 sq ft.
There are 29,000 Swarovski crystals in the ceiling of Junsui Lounge, designed in the shape of the Milky Way.
Every female member of the front office wear bespoke, gold earrings and necklace pendants, in the shape of Burj Al Arab logo.
You need to walk up 1080 steps to reach the 27th floor of Burj Al Arab. Good job they have plush lifts.
