PHOTOGRAPHERS THOUGHTS …

We were at Cape Cross Seal Reserve, Namibia, at a 10,000 strong seal colony, and boy you knew it ... ! But that is nothing to the estimated 210,000 that arrive in the breading season (Nov-Dec).

So many opportunities, but finding or being lucky enough, is another thing entirely. The biggest problem is trying to isolate the subjects – there are just so many seals, laying all over each other ...

I was lucky enough to be composing for a head shot, when he decided it was my lucky day …

12.30pm in July, with lightly overcast conditions, perfect for limiting the contrast and shadows.

1/200th, f7.1 (sweet spot), 400 ISO, Manual Exposure based on blinking highlights in viewfinder, exposure meter & histogram, EV 0, AF, RAW, Fuji X-T2, Fuji 100-400mm (125mm on cropped sensor), Lightroom enhanced.
