Yellow-rumped Warbler

Yellow-rumped warbler... looking pretty smart and trim in his new breeding plumage. I must have seen at least thirty of these guys during the weekend at my aunt’s house (along with seven other warbler species) and it was really fun to watch them. They’re variable foragers, and can switch from hawking insects in the canopy to hopping around on the ground in an instant. This versatility makes them a little unpredictable, though, so it took me a while to get close to one before it shot back up into the canopy. Glad this male decided to acknowledge my efforts.
