The engineer walks back to waiting crew van and the deadhead back to Selkirk. Still functioning as a high speed conduit for food and perishables (and in this case high priority empty westbound PFE reefers ) the former NYC "Water Level " route plays host to NG-3 an old New Haven RR symbol originating at the former NH Oak Point yard in the Bronx.
Penn Central was an amalgamation of all three of its major parts ..the reason for its appeal and its failure..
