Spotless Crake. ( Porzana tabuensis ) The birds now seem more secretive,possibly since the cessation of breeding ,they have become more nocturnal. I have now set 35 predator traps around the wetland, killing rats ,stoats ferrets and feral cats..

This will reduce the enormous pressure on these birds....However finding volunteers to help check the line is more difficult than photographing the birds....
