More than Words

Even seen from the back, following the public footpath through the graveyard, it seemed to me that the unusual enduring memorial must have been commissioned by people whose loved one's importance mattered to them in a very personal way. It is inscribed "Here lies in peace the body of Admiral Sir William King-Hall, KCB 11 March 1816-29 July 1886". The words enabled me to find out that his two sons also became "Admiral Sir", just enough extra information to make me confident in saying this memorial sculpture says more than words, across centuries.

I chose to take a picture of something that said more than words rather than a picture that said more than words because for me 99% of my pictures do that, describing the plants I see in more detail more accurately at a click than if I tried to describe them in writing, and the pictures potentially being of wider interest than those words would be.
