Carex hirta (Hairy Sedge)
Hairy Sedge is one of the plants colonising what is left of bare space at the dry end of the Slurry Lagoon at Netherfield Lagoons LNR, Nottinghamshire. Reeds advancing from the wet end can be seen in the background. The name and colour of the "soil" come from the slurry pumped into the former gravel pit from Gedling Colliery.
