Vimy Ridge Farm, Kinoulton

Growing on a windowsill of derelict Vimy Ridge Farm, which was renamed after the battle when it was bought by Sir Jesse William Hind in 1919 to train ex-servicemen in agriculture. He planted 184 poplars in the memory of his son and the other 183 of the Sherwood Foresters regiment 9th battalion who died in the Battle of the Somme, which the Parish Council replanted as part of the millennial celebrations.
