Brighter green than C. sumatrensis or C. floribunda and best distinguished from them by the outer flowers' ligules overtopping the phyllaries.
Most of the C. canadensis I see in Nottinghamshire is also a much smaller plant than the other two (often less than a foot high, whereas the other two are often over three if not four feet) and I usually see it growing on arable ground or as a garden weed, but this was an exception to that on both counts.
