Viola tricolor (Wild Pansy)
With a flat (rather than cup-shaped) corolla, 2cm in height and the upper petals are much longer than the upper sepals. (The blue-grey pedicel suggests V. x contempta but I think the longer petals and corolla height outweigh this.)
Newly landscaped ground sown with grass near Rushcliffe Arena, Nottinghamshire SK53. I think the soil is imported, certainly the sand is. This is one of several arable weeds that have come up in it that I had not previously seen there, although bits of the ground have often been disturbed, so I suspect the seeds came in with that soil.
