El Tíbet es una región autónoma del sudoeste de China, enclavada en el Asia Central, cuya capital es Lhasa. Conjunto de tierras de gran elevación (más de 4.500 m), rodeada de las cordilleras de mayor altitud de la Tierra. En el concepto occidental "Tíbet" puede referirse a Región Autónoma del Tíbet o RAT (una subdivisión administrativa de la República Popular China), o al Tíbet histórico que consiste en las provincias de Amdo, Kham, y Ü-Tsang.
La población es en su gran mayoría budista, aunque el porcentaje de religiosos ha disminuido desde la invasión de China; sin embargo, recientes estudios aseguran que la población china, y específicamente tibetana, teme hablar sobre su religión, por lo tanto los datos carecerían de fiabilidad.[cita requerida] La lengua mayoritaria es el tibetano. En el Tíbet se encuentra el pico mas alto del mundo, el monte Everest.

In the Western concept "Tibet" can refer to Tibet Autonomous Region or RAT (an administrative branch of the People's Republic of China), or the historic Tibet consisting of the provinces of Amdo, Kham, and Ü-Tsang.
The population is mostly Buddhist, but the proportion of religious has decreased since the invasion of China, but recent studies claim that the Chinese population, and specifically Tibetan afraid to talk about their religion, hence the lack of data reliability. [citation needed] The majority language is Tibetan. In Tibet is the highest peak in the world, Mount Everest.
