Sanremo is one of the few places left in Italy with a trolleybus system. It opened in 1942 and in 1951 it reached it's maximum extension. There were three lines:
T Sanremo (Piazza Colombo) - Taggia;
U La Brezza - Villa Helios (urban line that connects the far east to the far west);
V Sanremo (Piazza Colombo) - Ventimiglia.
Since the nineties line T was interrupted and since then unfortunately we are still waiting for it to become a trolleybus again.
Today the trolleybuses in service are 9 Bredabus 4001.12 from 1991 and two Solaris Trollino from 2008.
Here is Bredabus 4001.12 # 1709 in service on line U at it's east terminal at La Brezza beach.
