Classic Crawl

Five of us gather on the shore of the Grand River at Breslau for a once in a lifetime event. CN X56831-24 running from Guelph to London to move equipment for the Ontario Southland Railway. After the last run on August 28, OSR equipment was left in Guelph for CN to ship to St. Thomas where, on home rails, it would return to the shop at Salford. After almost a month the paperwork was cleared and the movement was begun. The trip would end at Kitchener though after numerous delays; missing paperwork, multiple foremen working on the line, and the EOT not communicating with the IDU resulting in a 15mph speed restriction for the whole trip. It was impressive these locomotives were under their own power on the mainline, all having 60-63 years of service behind them, and the MLW RS18u leader only made it better. Consist included 8 locomotives; OSR 182, 1620, 1591, 181, 505, 506, 504, 1 boxcar, 2 ballast hoppers, and caboose 434462.
