Lifer inattendu.
Une rencontre inattendue d'un oiseau longuement recherché lors de mes deux précédents voyages en Californie.
La Caille de Californie. Elle est apparue trônant sur le sommet d'un énorme rocher de granite au beau milieu d'un champ alors que je recherchais des hirondelles à face blanche. Un beau mâle qui surveillait ses femelles de son haut perchoir, femelles que j'ai seulement aperçues que très brièvement lorsque j'ai été finalement repéré et que le cri d'alarme s'est fait entendre, le mâle a alors rejoint le groupe et ils sont disparues dans les hautes herbes pour ne plus être revue.

Unexpected Lifer.
An unexpected encounter with a long sought-after bird during my two previous trips to California.
The California Quail. She appeared troning like King on top of a huge granite boulder in the middle of a field of hight grass as I searched for Violet-green Swallow. A handsome male watching his females from his high point of view, females which I only saw very briefly when I was finally spotted and the alarm call was heard, the male then joined the group and they disappeared in the tall grass, never to be seen again.
