NX3360G / 'A8890' Boeing P-12E cn 1522 US Navy Chino - Planes of Fame Museum 19Feb19

Really a former USAAC P-12E serial 32-17.

W/O in landing accident at Long Beach Municipal Airport, CA Feb 10, 1940. 017 restored by Ed Maloney as N3360G in 1979 out of a fuselage found at a technical school. Now on display in Planes of Fame museum marked as a Navy F4B-3.

Constructed as a P-12E. Circa 1932

Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Army Air Force with s/n 32-0017.

Transferred to 73rd Pursuit Squadron, March Field, Riverside, CA. 20 February 1932

Involved in an incident. Occurred during taxiing at Palo Alto.

Transferred to 29th Pursuit Squadron, Albrook Field. 14 June 1937.

Involved in an incident. Damaged by a bird stike while flying over Albrook Field in the Canal Zone.

Transferred to Long Beach Municipal Airport, Long Beach, CA.

10 February 1940

Involved in an incident. Ground looped at Long beach, CA. Written off.

Recovered.

1979 Restored.

10 August 1979 To Edward T. Maloney, Chino, CA with c/r N3360G. Operated by Planes of Fame Air Museum, Chino Airport, Chino, CA.

Restored. Markings Applied: 8890

Finished in Navy colours to represent the F4B-3 flown by Lieutenant-Commander Frederick P. Sherman, Commanding Officer (indicated by the red band around the fuselage) of Navy Squadron VF-1B High Hats, circa 1932. It had BuNo. A-8898 and was coded F-1-F.
