At the Severn Valley Railway, Kidderminster, Worcestershire, England, United Kingdom, on Saturday 7th June 2025.
About the photograph.
This is a re-enactor whom is dressed up very much like Captain Mainwaring from the 1970s British television sitcom called Dad’s Army.
Actually, the re-enactor is simply dressed up like a Home Guard officer, as part of the Severn Valley Railway’s Step Back to the 1940s event. Here, he is sitting at a desk ready to stamp a replica National Registration identity card as seen in his left hand, for any visitors who may want a memorabilia of their visit.
The photo was shot in colour, but because of the 1940s theme, where black and white was generally used more often than colour, I decided to use Adobe Lightroom to convert it into black and white to suit the era.
About Severn Valley Railway.
The Severn Valley Railway is a 16 miles single track heritage railway line in Worcestershire and Shropshire, between the towns of Kidderminster and Bridgnorth. The railway line follows the course of the River Severn along the Severn Valley.
The train services are often hauled by a mix of vintage steam locomotives, and classic diesel locomotives, usually pulling resorted heritage carriages.
The Severn Valley Railway often holds special events during some weekends, and the Step Back to the 1940s event is one of the many events.
