About the photograph.
I booked Eirwen for a two hours photo-shoot in and around Gloucester, and the photo-shoot was split into two sections.
The first section lasting an hour, was an outdoor photo-shoot done outside the Hatton Court Hotel, just outside of Gloucester, with special thanks to the hotel staff for letting me use their location.
My idea was to take photos of Eirwen, dressed in a smart evening outfit and different fur coats, getting out of a car outside the hotel. The photos would be used as graphic design assets, illustrating a hotel advert.
This was a quick test shot when she changed to a different fur coat. The reason was I struggled with getting the camera’s settings correct, the black fur coat could have come out dull or something, so I asked Eirwen to simply stand there while I fire off a test shot to check I’ve got the white balance set correctly.
Of course, I forgotten about software. Having grow up with film, I’m used to making an effort to get the lighting right, before taking the shots, otherwise once the photos have been printed, it would look wrong. Sometimes some editing work by making adjustments during printing may help correct as much as possible.
But I forgotten that today, even when it is important to try to get your camera settings correctly set up, even if you took a shot and it came out wrong, you can always use software to correct it.
But nevertheless, here I am, taking a quick test shot to make sure the coat’s black colours come out right.
After the first section was done, I drove to a studio on the south-west side of Gloucester, for the second section, where I booked an hour at Studio Five Photography, for the indoor photo-shoot.
