LadyArtist – Fur Fashion Photo-shoot (2/4)

File: 2016005-0063

In my back garden, somewhere in Worcestershire, United Kingdom, on Tuesday 15th November 2016.

About the photograph.

This is Marie, known as LadyArtist on the model booking websites, like PurplePort, which is where I found her from. I booked her for a two hours photo-shoot done at my home. The two hours photo-shoot was split into two halves, one hour was done outdoors and as a fashion portraiture photography.

In the photographs, LadyArtist is posing in a cream coloured [UK] size 16 faux fur coat by Dorothy Perkins. She is also posing in her own dark blouse, and blue jeans tucked into her black knee-length boots, and a black leather belt.

She is posing in the back garden, next to the fence and the back wall of my house, lighting was done using daylight.

After those shots, she changed into a different faux fur coat, and we moved over to the back end of the garden for different shots. You can see the other photos in my Albums, it can be found under the title of LadyArtist (Marie)

When the first hour, fashion themed outdoor photo-shoot was done, the next hour was done indoors.

As I am a deaf person with speech impaired, you would think there would be communications difficulties between myself as a photographer, and her as the model. But despite the difficulties, we did get on very well, and had done the photo-shoot without problems. LadyArtist later left a positive review on my PurplePort account.

Sadly she passed away about two years after this photo-shoot, and I was not aware of this until another two years after her passing away, when I saw a memorial message on her profile on the model booking website.

She was a really great model, I had a great time working with her.

Notice: If the photo-shoot was done around the models’ homes, or done at my home, then for safety and privacy, the geotag is removed, and the photos will not be put on the map.

About Dorothy Perkins.

In 1909, it was founded under the original name of H. P. Newman & Co, in Leeds, United Kingdom, as a drapery shop. It was later said to be a straw hat manufacturer, as the details is not very well recorded.

By 1916, they changed the trading name to Dorothy Perkins, and they opened as a specialist ladies’ outfitters shop in 1919. Over the years, they adverted themselves as specialist in millinery, lingerie, corsets, and hosiery. They also adverted selling ladies’ hats.

The company opened a chain of shops centred in London, and by 1939, they had about 75 shops, and the company grew thanks to Alan Farmer who joined in 1925, and took over in 1940.

The company was floated on the stock exchange market in 1958, and by that time, they had 130 shops, as well as expanding the range of ladies’ wear.

Alan Farmer continued to expand the company in the 1960s, by the end of the decade, they grew to 275 outlets, including a 70% shares in the boutique company called Bibi.

During the 1970s, the company was bought by the Burton Group plc, later became known as the Arcadia Group Ltd, which was owned by Tina Green, the wife of Philip Green.

Arcadia Group went into administration around November 2020, and later the brand, but not the shops, was bought by Boohoo, and is now an online shopping website.
