SKIPTON Station and canal

Railway Station and canal. The Leeds -liverpool canal was completed 200yrs ago and transformed transport of materials and goods in the Industrial Revolution especially coal that powered the mills. 60yrs later the Railway boom swept through Britain. The rail route runs parallel to the canals in many places. Eventually the canal trade died and now the canals are a fantastic leisure resource. In Feb 2017 for the first time a sheduled mainline steamtrain sevice ran for 3 days from Skipton to Appleby over the famous Ribblehead Viaduct. The Tornado Pacific class loco was built from scratch using original engineering drawings 8yrs ago. It was dusk when it pulled into the station and my Rolleiflex 3.5 only had 4 frames of 100 tmax left so not ideal to cature much!
