Hanceville Child Sodomist Arrested With Stolen Car ICE Methamphetamine
The Hanceville Police Department was alerted by residents of suspicious activities involving an older model, silver/gray Nissan on the city’s east side Wednesday afternoon.
Around 1:00 pm, Sergeant Rob Long of the Hanceville Police Department spotted the vehicle in question traveling along Edmondson Road. Long immediately conducted a traffic spot. Upon a review of Department of Motor Vehicle records, he determined the license tag belonged to another vehicle, not the just pulled over Nissan. This anomaly led to a deeper review utilizing the car’s Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). The Nissan was soon discovered to be stolen from its lawful owner in the Guntersville area.
At this point, additional officers including Lieutenant Brannon Hammick responded to the scene as back-ups for Sergeant Long.
After determining probable cause existed, Hammick conducted a routine search of the stolen vehicle. In short order, he discovered what later weighed-in as 11 grams of ICE methamphetamine and various items of drug paraphernalia including syringe, needle, and a magnetic drug carrier.
The two individuals inside the Nissan were arrested and charged with multiple offenses. They were taken to the Hanceville City Jail for processing.
The stolen Nissan was impounded and it was moved to a containment area at the police station.
During the suspect identification phase of the incident, the male subject was identified as a registered sex offender due to a conviction stemming from two counts of 1st Degree Sodomy involving a 5-year-old male child. Public records indicate the subject’s last known address was along County Road 573. This area is commonly known as ‘Chigger Ridge’.
As a result of all of the above, DAVID LEE MOORE (53) of Hanceville was charged with:
• Receiving Stolen Property – 1st Degree (car)
• Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine)
• Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
• Receiving Stolen Property – 4th Degree (license tag)
His co-passenger, TINA LOUISE THOMPSON (37) of Cullman was charged with
