Major Agricultural Structure Fire Wipes Out Facility In Welti

A fully involved agricultural structure fire occurred today in the 200 block of County Road 751 northeast of the Welti community.

This four alarm blaze was driven by petroleum products, approximately 150 hay bale rolls and steady strong winds of 15 to 20 mph.

Berlin Fire Department was the first fire fighters to arrive on scene. According to Berlin Fire Chief Ralph Laney, the almost 10,000 square foot facility was fully involved in flames with large portions of the roof structure on the ground when his department arrived at the address.

Clouds of billowing black smoke from the initial peak of the fire could easily be see from the City of Cullman and Hanceville.
