Other side of a Rose

Rose petals everywhere,

pleasant scents in the air.

 

Our eyes see beauty

in each petal fair,

yet mistaken are we

that only see

beauty in what is rare.

 

I dare you to see

this rose's stare.

The weed that blooms

with delicate petals

that we love to share.

 

The secret

we do not see,

is,

like the rose we

are not born

to beauty or fame

beyond compare.

 

It takes careful

pruning and prayer

to create something

so delicate with flare.

 

From the dirty garden floor

to the majestic town square.

The common nuisance

transformed into royalty

with loving care.

 

Perhaps a lesson in nurturing

a weed would be fair,

in teaching us how to

raise children with care.

 

Perhaps the future

we would not despair,

if we treated children

like Roses,

with loving care.
