Sad

Find my latest blog-post and YouTube video here!

(I posted this on Facebook and Instagram.. but somehow couldn't upload this then.)

An attack on a sovereign democratic country by a dictator threatening the rest of the world with the ultimate weapon. The events of the last days has left me shocked and sad. During my life, looking at history,.. these kind of events obviously have happened before. And every time, I feel humanity does not learn from its mistakes.

Having worked in international scientific environments, I have friends from both countries. I fear for my friends' families in Ukraine. My Russian friends are absolutely opposed to this war and I know that for that opinion, they have to be careful.

Add to that, the other horrible things happening in this world such as attacks on LGBTQ and other human rights in many countries (including countries who are on the right side of this war) ... and this breaks my heart. I have also read the stories of the treatment of non-white people fleeing Ukraine. And this breaks my heart again.

Freedom, civil and human rights.. and an open, progressive and accepting society should never be taken for granted. And that's why strong democracies matter. And that's why emerging democracies need to be protected.

I smile a lot. Mostly because I feel blessed for my life, my health and my loved ones. I wanted to wear these colours but I didn't think smiling was appropriate. I will smile again in the next post.

Stay safe! ❤️
