La efedra (Ephedra distachya, raisin de mer en francés) es una planta marítima que crece en las dunas. Casi no tienen hojas, tienen unas flores amarillas que se transforman las dunas en alfombras rojas en la época de fructificación, a finales del verano. Pasé toda mi niñez cerca el mar, a Bretaña, y recuerdo muy bien esas plantitas diminutas que me anunciaban el final del verano y la cercana vuelta al cole.
Ephedra distachya (raisin de mer in French) is a maritime shrub that grows on the sand dunes. It has tiny leaves, the flowers are yellow and at the end of summer, its fruits transform the dune into a reddish carpet. I spent my whole childhood next to the sea, in Brittany, and I remember that those small plants would be the signal of the ending summer and that it was time for us to come back to school.
