Batman : A Game of Chess prologue

20 years ago my parents were killed in a alley .

 

I was seven at that time .

 

And I was with them .

 

I will never forget that night , because it's encased in my memory ; a fragment none of my psychiatrists have been able to extract throughout the years.

 

When I was 10 I learned to lie and soon I perfect my new found skill , I fooled all of my doctors , psychiatrists and who not into thinking I was a good little boy with no problems whatsoever .

 

I wasn't .

 

Soon afterwards I went to train with the League of Shadows and Ra's A'h Ghul .

 

I trained for 17 years .

 

I've reached a rank of master apprentice and soon I found out the truth about the League .

 

They weren't warriors seeking peace , they were warriors out for blood.

 

Soon after my findings I left .

 

Well , the correct turn is ran for my life and somehow got out .

 

And now ..now I'm back in Gotham .

 

Turns out this city is ...well if I'm gonna put it lightly , quite fucked .

 

Each year there is a 5% increase in crime and the police are barely keeping up with it , that is , the policemen who aren't corrupted .

 

Wayne industries on the other hand has been doing good .

 

Lucios Fox , a good friend of my family has been running Wayne ind. while I was gone .

 

But now that I'm back , I'm the new CEO of Wayne Industries.

 

And more importantly , I'm Batman , Gothams protector .

 

I've been back for a month now , and already the amount of criminals has been reduced .

 

But now ..now I'm hunting the big sharks.

 

People like The Crow , The Penguin , big shots .

 

And all I have to put them out of their misery is but a suit or two .

 

The normal suit , a black and gray suit with a golden belt armed with all kinds of gadgets .

 

And the VERTIGO suit .

 

A suit specifically designed for bad weather or harsh environments , or places with not much if any air to breathe in.

 

And of course my Butler , Alfred .

 

Over the years he has kept me informed about the happenings in Gotham , I find him more than just a friend and a Butler , you could say he's like a father to me.

 

And that's all I have .

 

I've got very little to lose in case I fail and ultimately die .

 

I know the stakes .

 

And I'm well aware of the consequences.

 

I promised myself that day , the day my life collapsed that I would help people , I would purge Gotham from corruption .

 

And one way or another that's what I plan on doing .
