Ulex minor is a spiny shrub growing 10-100 (-150) cm tall (Tutin et al. 1993). It has yellow flowers in late summer and autumn. It is found in shrub heaths, preferring slightly dryer and warmer climates than Ulex gallii (Stokes et al. 2003). This species is mainly found on free draining acid and impoverished soils (Stokes et al. 2003).
