Linnet male. Bolberry Down coast path, near Hope Cove, south Devon. DSC_9064.jpg
A lovely little chap in his bright crimson waistcoat.
There were a fair number of these around near the NT car park, I spent some time trying to photograph a small gang of about 6-7 in late afternoon and there must have been a flock of nearly 30 birds around just before I left to go back for dinner. They were very shy, just like the Skylarks and hell's own job to get close enough.
I even went back to the car to get my hide bag out for the first time ever to try to get a wee bit closer; felt a right dipstick crouching down in it amongst the gorse right next to a public footpath...
The weather was closing in, it being quite overcast and the damp, muggy atmosphere rapidly turned to drizzle and then full on rain by the time I left.
THanks for the faves and comments. Appreciated.
