Common Blue male, Aspley, Nottingham. DSC_9951.jpg

Driving home on several occasions recently, I noticed a derelict plot in an industrial area a few hundred metres down my road from my home, that looked a likely spot for butterflies. It had a number of self seeded Buddleia bushes and well developed wild flower growth Sure enough, Common Blues, Small Coppers, Small Skipper, and others were present. This was one of the shots I took that morning, before the inevitable clouds rolled in.

This butterfly settled on this flower as the sun disappeared behind a cloud briefly and stayed put for 15 minutes, until the sun emerged again, buffeted by gusts of wind but refusing to budge, no matter what.

Thanks everyone for the faves and comments. Thanks again Darren Chapman for the correction! :-)
