Something out of Nothing
All scraps. Since the fire, all of my fabric stash has been parceled out to friends to wash. I don't have any of it back yet, but I was scheduled to go on a quilting retreat this past weekend. Rather than stress about getting some of my fabric back, I instead looked at what I DID have on hand -- only fabrics that I had put into sealed bags prior to the fire -- so three matchymatchy fabric collections, a bunch of scraps, and a few bits of yardage of neutrals.
I had a chunk of Kona white, and odd strips of batiks left over from previous projects -- trash, really -- that were *stuffed* into 4 gallon Ziploc bags. I now have a sandwich baggie of batik scraps left. And a quilt top. And it cost me nothing. And I might have thrown these scraps away. I'm so glad I didn't. :)
