Getting Started

To determine when pine pollen season starts and when the trees produce the maximum amount of pollen, estimate the number of degree-days above 55⁰ Fahrenheit after February 1; to determine degree-days, add the positive differences between the daily high temperature and 55 degrees: when the total degree-days add up to ± 300 degree-days, the pine tree begins releasing pollen, and when a sum total of 636 degree-days arrives, pollen production peaks (April, here)
