'Scutum'

The Latin word for shield: in modern times it has come to be specifically associated with the rectangular, semi-cylindrical body shield the Roman legionaries carried – historically, Roman shields were of varying types depending on the role of the soldier who carried it – oval, circular and rectangular shields were used throughout Roman history

To all who visit and view, and – especially – express support and satisfaction: you are much appreciated!
