1880年代紅磡只是一個尖尖的小半島岬地，其後陸續填海作為船塢用途，對出的海灣叫紅磡灣。19世紀末期設有九龍船塢，後來轉為黃埔船塢，還有青洲英泥公司和和中華電力的鶴園發電廠(1921-1991)。船塢於1980年代中重建為黃埔花園，電廠和英泥廠則於1990年代中重建為海逸豪園和工廠大廈。
Hung Hom was started to be developed into industrial area in late 1900s with Hong Kong and Whampoa Dock, Green Island Cement Company (1898-1970s) and Hok Un Power Station (1921-1991) occupied there. The dock was redeveloped into Whampoa Garden in 1980s while the cement plant and power station were redeveloped into factory buildings and Laguna Verde in 1990s.
