An old Hung Hom station, a temporary wooden structure located on Chatham Road South, began operation from the first day of Kowloon-Canton Railway on 1 October 1910 to 15 September 1921. In 1975, the government relocated the Kowloon Station in present site, adjacent to the Cross-Harbour Tunnel and Hong Kong Polytechnic. The tunnel was opened in 1972 and was followed by the construction of many multi-storey car parks.
