1937年港府於灣仔樂道成立香港官立高級工業學院，1947年改名為香港工業專門學院(工專)，1957年遷往紅磡灣填海區，1972年併入新成立的香港理工學院，原有校舍已於1997年以前完成重建。
The Government Trade School, situated in Wood Road, was founded in 1937. The School became the Hong Kong Technical College in 1947. It was moved to the new campus in the Hung Hom reclamation area in 1957 and became the Hong Kong Polytechnic in 1972. The original premise was completely demolished in 1997.
