1956年2月11日，港督葛量洪主持工業專門學院奠基禮，校舍位於紅磡灣填海區，由香港中華廠商聯合會一百萬元的捐款及港府撥款興建，翌年12月2日校舍開幕。1972年工業專門學院升格為香港理工學院，1976年10月26日，港督麥理浩主持校舍開幕禮。1997年，工業專門學院校舍己全部拆卸重建。
The campus of the Hong Kong Technical College was built in the Hung Hom reclamation area in 1957. It became the Hong Kong Polytechnic in 1972. The campus Phase I was completed in 1976. The original premise was completely demolished in 1997.
