A group of chandeliers of the Peninsula Hotel were donated to the University Hall of Hong Kong University in 1970s.

University Hall, (大學堂) is a historical male students residence of the University of Hong Kong. It is located at No. 144 Pok Fu Lam Road. The building itself dates back to 1861 when a wealthy Scottish trader named Douglas Lapraik build Douglas Castle as place of his residence. The French Mission (the Societe Des Missions Etrangere De Paris) purchased the building and redeveloped it into the Nazareth House. The University of Hong Kong purchased the building in 1954 after the leave of French Mission from Hong Kong. East wing was demolished and the dormitory and the chapel have been used as the University Hall since 1956.

The Peninsula Hotel was opened in 1928. It was highly renovated in 1960 and expanded in 1994.
